The Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019
The Kenya Data Protection Act (DPA), 2019 gives you important rights regarding how your personal data is collected, stored, and used by financial institutions — including banks and KDIC itself.
- Right to know what data a bank holds about you
- Right to request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Right to object to processing of your personal data
- Right to have your data deleted in certain circumstances
- Right to know if your data has been shared with third parties
KDIC processes personal data strictly in accordance with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Data collected through the KDIC portal, whistleblower system, or e-Services is used only for the purposes for which it was provided.
You can contact the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) if you believe your data rights have been violated by any institution.
